Volunteering

General Info

If you are interested in volunteering some of your time for the Club, and may have forgotten to indicate this on your membership form, please contact the NNSC at 354-4299 so we can include you on our volunteer list. The system works as follows:

For each adult who volunteers a minimum of 8 hours, the NNSC gives a $30.00 discount off the cost of next year's membership. No discount is given if less than 8 hours are worked in a season. A family with 2 adults can earn up to 16 hours or $60.00; it's acceptable to transfer hours within a family only. Otherwise, volunteer hours are not transferable, have no cash value, and are not carried over from year to year.

Keeping track of hours can be difficult enough without these extra complications!

It is important to recognize that this system is not designed to pay members for working. A little mathematics will reveal that sweatshops in the Third World pay better wages! The system is just a way of giving our valuable volunteers a little recognition and to show in some small way our appreciation. If you have indicated interest in volunteering, you will be contacted to see where your interest lies. When this type of work is needed you will be notified. The person in charge of a particular work party, fund raising committee, fee collectors, etc. would submit to me the total hours worked on a particular day. At the end of the season these totals are tallied and vouchers are then produced.

Trail Attendants

Ann Popoff will organize the trail attendants for another year. They will be selling memberships and day passes, advising skiers, and monitoring trail use along with their army of volunteers. Please give Ann a call if you would like to help volunteer for this important job.
